No, I'm not talking about "hacking" it up on the course. HAC is actually "Heather's Acronym Collection." I love acronyms. Maybe it stems from my days in Washington, D.C. when I used to work for the American Feed Industry Association or AFIA, and the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA). Yes, these organizations really exist and the acronyms are especially helpful when writing a memo or press release. Simply put; they save a ton of time.
Hubbie thinks I get a little carried away with my use of acronyms. He thought I went over the edge when I starting using QEFTSG to refer to Bravo's show, Queer Eye For The Straight Guy.
Acronyms are quite useful around the golf course. They are quick and sometimes they even disguise a "colorful" word or two. I guess I just find them more creative. So here are the first few acronyms from HAC. I will be adding many in the future and welcome other suggestions. Some of these you will already know. Others are original "Heatherisms" that up until now have only been shared with a few lucky (or unlucky) friends.
NBFM—Not Bad For Me
I use this one after any shot that pretty much gets me in the general vicinity of where I am going. These golf shots would not be acceptable to our course champ, but they are NBFM.
NBFMT—Not Bad For Me Today
Same concept, but should be used on those days when things just aren't coming together. In other words, an approach shot misses the green, but averts the bunker and lands by the trees, but not in the roots; NBFMT.
LUFU—Look Up F@#* Up
This one is self explanatory. It is not an HAC original, but it bears repeating. Oh, how I dream of never needing to use this acronym again.
PAL—Pick A Little (ladies)
These are women on the course who love to point out perceived faults in your game. Playing with PALs can be very tiring. But if you get stuck with one, you can turn to your friend and say, "I didn't know our PAL would be joining us." The PAL will be none the wiser.

I'm no stranger to acronyms, I work for NASA. I wrote a program that sends emails to remind folks of a product due date. I named the tool S.cheduled P.roduct A.lert M.essage.
While it's not an acronym, and since I play lots of golf with space nerds (meaning that in a cool way), I call it a "Kenobi" when I hit one out of bounds. If it's late in the round I'll say, "I've been waiting for you Obi-Wan".

I love LUFU and NBFM will soon be hitting my course.
LOL on SPAM. We are Star Wars fans also. I can't wait to use the Kenobi and Obi-Wan references with my son. Love it!
