I still probably shouldn't be on the computer. But since I no longer want to claw out my own eye, I must be on the mend from Friday's eye surgery. Since I'm trying to simplify things these next few days while my eye heals, now is the perfect time to add more acronyms to Heather's Acronym Collection (HAC).
UBU—Ugly But Useful
I wish I had more of these shots. This is when I have a long shot to the green and a tiny creek that must be carried is a mere 30 yards in front of me. So out comes the 3-wood and the golf ball takes off into the air—at least six inches above the ground. It starts to go into the water hazard, but at the last minutes skips out and rolls up a few feet short of the green. That shot was UBU. Can also use UBE (Ugly, But Effective), however I like the onomatopoetic "yoo-boo" sound of UBU better.
SYT—Still Your Turn
This is an oldie, but a goodie. YSO (You're Still Out) is another all-time favorite. Everyone hates to hear these words, especially on a putting green, but they are simply part of golf. These words are especially stinging when everyone has six feet (or less) to the hole and you have a 20-foot putt that you somehow manage to stub. Unfortunately, the next shot is SYT.
SMT—Still My Turn
Same circumstances, but I usually prefer to call my own crappy shot rather than having someone else mention it to me. Also very appropriate if I ever whiff a shot out of the rough. I can't avoid it; it's SMT.
LOFT—Lack of F*!&ing Talent
LOFT is when I hit a bad shot that barely makes it off the ground and lands 20 feet to the side of me. I simply say, "That shot had a lot of LOFT." Of course, I am especially fond of acronyms that cover up more colorful words. This one is a gem. It comes from a reader in Naples, Florida, who submitted it for my Holiday HACing contest and won an adorable SporteeGal Golf Journal for this great entry.
I'm always on look out for fun golfing acronyms so feel free to send any others along my way.

LMFAO! Only because I so relate to each one.
My favorites are the ones that miraculously skip over the water (as if I were skipping rocks) & land in the fairway. When this happens you get named Skippy for the rest of the day.
I'm also very fond of the *fly balls* that go straight up and nearly brain you when they come back down.
Hope the healing is going well. I suppose it is since you no longer want to scratch your eye out, lol.
Heard another in the Ladies league today. This occured when someone totally wiffed the golf ball. They yelled out "fish".....
"FISH" => F*!& It's Still Here
FISO = F%$# I'm Still Out
Same kind of deal as YSA
