Barry Lovelace Brings Core to RWG

I hate the gym. Always have, always will. I would rather walk in ice and snow (and often do) than get on a treadmill. I just can't stand being in a fitness center when I can be outside.

I do lift some small weights, but I like doing that in front of my TiVo. I think my recordings of, "All My Children," are backed up from last August when I started blogging. But Barry Lovelace has turned me on to some core training that is already helping my game and I'm really excited to be able to share his exercises with you.

I've only been doing them a couple weeks now and I definitely see a difference in my drives. My bad drives now go the distance of my former good drives. Over the coming months, Barry is providing RWG with some golf-specific core exercises. I love Barry's approach to core training. He is laid back and doesn't give you a 60-minute workout that you will never do. He provides specific exercises with minimal time commitment, but maximum impact.

Also, check out Barry's website barrylovelace.com for more exercises and you'll understand why he is called the "King of Core."

Be prepared to change clubs!

Thanks so much for posting this...seriously!

I have taken on the look of an overweight guy, but it is not because I carry far too many pounds, it is instead because I had three bad abdominal tears after some laproscopic surgery. Came back way too hard too quickly and the only way to let the major tears heal was to do nothing for over six months in the abs area. That didn't do my core any good and it didn't help my "figure." (LOL)

Anyhow, Barry Lovelace seems to be exactly what I was looking for in order to get past this injury.

Hey Charles...

Your are so welcome :)

Like Heather said, there are tons of core exercises, that can be modified, on my blog that will help your 'ab' area. Training your core will strengthen up your entire 'power pack' in turn create some 'muskle' all over :)

Good Luck with everything Charles!

I get winded if I google 'golf specific exercises' too quickly.

But, I am convinced physical fitness and stamina are key for competitive golfers to maintain what they have and attain their max potential.

It is also the sign of a serious golfer.

Did I tell I have started beeping the horn when I drive past the driving range? Does that count?

Roo,

Such a silly question! I'll stick with Barry's exercises in front of my computer or TV. But I will meet you after bodypump for golf! ;o)
