Chef Patsy Captures the Flavor of the Champions Tour

Looking to celebrate golf with some friends this summer? Want some golf inspired food to serve? Chef Patsy to the rescue.

Patsy Bentivegna has 25 years of culinary experience and is currently on the PGA Tour/Champions Tour staff and a part time Private Chef/Cooking Teacher. She is creating recipes to showcase the local flavors of each of the Champions tournament cities. This week for the Regions Charity Classic, Chef Pasty features some “Sweet Home Alabama” flavor with a recipe for “Pulled Pork Sliders” with fresh coleslaw.

The concept is similar to having friends over to watch the Kentucky Derby or the Super Bowl. I love the idea of celebrating golf with some tournament-inspired food. Anyone who shows up at my house on a Sunday afternoon knows they will find golf on several TVs. Adding some golf-inspired food to the mix makes the festivities all the more fun.

I recently spoke with Chef Patsy, who considers herself a “favor designer,” about bringing some culinary flare to the PGA tournaments. “The focus is on local flavors and designing recipes that demonstrate a seasonal style of cuisine that can be used in entertaining,” she said.

“I love to create recipes that inspire people to cook and entertain,” she added. “I love bringing people together.”

In addition to Chef Patsy’s delectable recipes, a food interview with the defending champion of each tournament can be found on the PGA Website. This week Andy Bean shares his favorite foods along with a great story about eating rattlesnake with Jack Nicklaus.

Be sure to check out Chef Patsy’s PGA recipes and start planning a golf party for goodness sake. Until then, here is my famous “Pick One” interview with Chef Patsy.

I followed the food link and found a recipe for Jamaican Jerk Andouille Sausage Potato Skins. She's gonna kill those old guys on the Champions Tour. (Oh, that's right! They are younger than me!!)

What a great idea to have golf inspired food at a gathering to watch golf. That Patsy is one smart cookie--no pun intended really.
Love your recipes and the idea of creating food based on the regional cuisine of the host city for PGA events.
I'm following you on twitter now and hope you'll post links to your new recipes when you get them published.

Chef Patsy and her work on the PGA Tour/Champions Tour would make for a great show on the Food Network! I'll have to pull up her recipe for pulled pork sliders and fresh coleslaw. She's going to give Paula Dean a run for her money.
